Do you think the Founding Fathers ever expected the Federal government to get so big?
Would they just shake there heads in disbelief at what we have let the great nation they sacrificed their very lives for become?
I'm all over the map on current issues, I am pro choice for abortion rights, but personally would rather choose life, but it is not my decision and it should not be up to a bunch of mealy mouth bureaucrats to decide for me how to live my life. Drugs, and prostitution is the same, not my thang but if it's yours who am I or some bunch weenies in Washington to tell you how to live? The truth is there will always be that "bad element" in society. But why are we letting all these same useless bureaucrats spend our billions of confiscated dollars to fight "wars" that can't possibly be won? If they're gonna steal my hard earned greenbacks I would rather they spend it developing better education systems and alternative energy sources so we didn't have to worry about pissin' off half the world to continue to feed our insatiable thirst for oil.
Now, I believe it has been proven that huge bureaucracies get in the way of quick and accurate decision making, 9/11 is perfect case in point, we have all these "government intelligence"
agencies, (there's a jumbo shrimp of an oxymoron if there ever was one) letting internal as well as external politics get in the way of protecting us. So to fix it these boneheads build another layer? We all sit idly and watch our rights get further eroded and let them confiscate more of our greenbacks to pay for it.
I think all these problems could be dealt with starting at the very base level, at home. Turn off the TV and learn to tell your kids/wife/husband NO! If we all learned to live with a little disappointment maybe we would be more thankful for stuff. Do we all really need two incomes?
what if you turned off the cable, disconnected the cell phones and pagers, only had one new car (or maybe just one car), had your kids share a room, and maybe had their mother at home when they left for school and when they came home from school. It's not that we all need two incomes
we just have been conditioned to be irresponsible consumers.
What about gay marriage? I am repulsed by the very idea of a homosexual relationship and think that marriage should only be heterosexual, but I am not sure why other than just a gut feeling. I would not dare to use the "sanctity of marriage" argument like the BMM's (bureaucratic mealy mouths) that ship sailed with "NO FAULT DIVORCE" which I, like what is it now 60%, of Americans have gone through.
